John Hastings (1835-Aft. 1861)

John Hastings was born in Pennsylvania, most likely Pittsburgh, in about 1835. He moved with his parents to Madison, Indiana when still a child, and again to Hopkins County, Texas in 1850 at the age of 15. He never married and it is believed that he died in Hopkins County, possibly in the 1860s or during the Civil War. There is no record of him after he joined the Hopkins Count militia in August of 1861. According to his nephew John Jones, he never married or had children.
