Narrative

John Henry Pitbladdo Campbell was born October 12, 1845 in Gowanus, Long Island, Queen County, New York to John Campbell and Euphemia Pitbladdo. He married Margaretta A. van Wicklen on March 21, 1873. Margaretta was born in February 1852 in New York to native New Yorkers. In 1900 they were living at 211 13th Street, Brooklyn and John was working as a stone cutter, but he had been unemployed for three months that year. Their daughter Lillian was still living with them at that time, age 20 and working as a stenographer. In 1906 the family took a trip to Oakland, California to celebrate the 25th wedding anniversary of his sister Mary Campbell Sheldon. Margaretta died in May of 1919. He died June 16, 1921 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.

Buried with his family at Green-Wood is an Eireen R. Bach, interred in January 1923. We can prove through the records below that Eireen was not a daughter of John and Margaretta, so her relation to the family is currently unknown.
