Will of John House

In the Name of God Amen In the twenty ninth Day of February in the year of our Lord 1752. I John House of Frederick County in the province of Maryland farmer being sick and weak in Body; but of perfect mind & memory; thanks to be given unto God therefore, Calling unto mind the mortality of my Body & knowing that it is appointed for all Men once lodge to make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament: that is to say principally & first of all. I give & recommend my Soul into the Hands of God that give it; and for my Body I recommend it to the Earth, to be buried in a Christian like & decent manner at the Discretion of my Executor, nothing doubting but as the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God, and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life. I give, divise & dispose of the same in the following Manner & Form. ?Imprimis it is my Will & I do order that in the first place all my just Debts & funeral Charges by paid & satisfied. Item I give & bequeath unto Susannah my dearly beloved Wife, the third part of all my having Estate & Household Goods & Movables. Item I give to my well beloved five Children Andrew George William Valentine & Susannah, whom I likewise constitute make & ordain my Executors of this my Last Will and Testament, all & singular the Lands Messages & Tenements to them there Heirs & assigns forwit and I do hereby disalien revoke & disannul all and every other former Testaments Wills Signed & Executed by me in any wise before this Time named Will & bequeathed, Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament. In Witness where of I have hereunto set my Hand & Seal the Day & year above written.

March 20th 1752 - Peter Stelly, Valentine Matsker & Thomas Shlay subscribers Witnesses to the Within Will being solemnly sworn on the holy Evgls. of Almighty God depose & say that they saw the with in John House sign the within Will, and that he published and declared the same to be his Last Will & Testament, and as the Time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of sound dispossing mind & memory & that they Subscribed their Names thereto as Witnesses in the presence of the Request of the Testament -

November the 10th 1752 - Andrew House and William House Executors of John House late of Frederick County Deceased made Oath on the Holy Evangelists of Allmighty God that the aforegoing is a Just and Perfect Inventory of all and Singular the Goods and Chattels which were of the Deceased at the time of the making thereof that came to their Hands that what hath since or shall hereafter come to their hands or possession they will return in an Additional Inventory that they know of no Concealment of any part of Parcel there of by any person whatsoever that if htey shall discover any concealment or suspect any to be they will acquaint the Commissary General for the time being or his Deputy with such Discovery or cause of Suspicion that it may be enquired into that they will well and Truly give an Account of all and every Part of the Deceased Personal Estate that shall hereafter come to their hands possession or knowledge.
