Zimiriah "Zimry" Haun was born April 10, 1822 in Jackson County, Missouri, the son of Peter Haun and Jane "Jinny" Moody. He lived with his parents in Montgomery County in 1830 and in Boone County in 1840. He married Elizabeth Amy Whisman on August 24, 1845 in Jackson County, Missouri. On the record their names were listed as Zimay Haun and Elizabeth Wishman. They made their home briefly in Platte County, Missouri before moving to California in 1850. They lived for a time in San Joaquin and Santa Clara before making their final long term home in Gilroy, California. Zimry moved to Merced County in about 1888 shortly before his death which occurred sometime after October of 1890 and most likely in Alvarado, Merced, California.
